SARAH PLUM

VIOLIN AND VIOLA
TEACHER/PERFORMER/NEW MUSIC SPECIALIST

ABOUT SARAH

Sarah Plum began her performing career by winning the gold medal at the International Stulberg Competition in 1983.  Since then she has carved out a distinctive role as a serious interpreter of repertoire both old and new.  Described by the third coast digest as “consistently stunning in works that demanded conventional virtuosity but also great skill in unconventional techniques, Plum has spent her career championing composers, commissioning new works and bringing their music to a wider audience. Plum recently relocated to the Chicago area to continue her work as an “activist performer” ( - an earful.com) and has been busy performing with groups such as 5th House Ensemble and Fulcrum Point.

After more than 15 years teaching at the college level, noted pedagogue and Juilliard graduate Sarah Plum has moved to Evanston, Illinois in order to focus on pre-college teaching. She is currently accepting new violin and viola students and building a large studio of young talent. Plum’s students have won scholarships to top degree programs and summer festivals as well as prizes in local, regional and national competitions such as MTNA, ASTA and Midwest Young Artists Walgreens Competition among others. Additionally, she has helped prepare her students for successful auditions for orchestras as well as for positions as professors and educators. For more information and testimonials from students and parents click
